  1. I feel like rice should be doing jail time. There is no reason at all on any occasion that a women should be hit even if she was beating him badly.. When he says in the article "I know that's not who I am as a man. That's not who my mom raised me to be. I let her down, I let my wife down, I let my daughter down. I let so many people down because of 30 seconds of my life that I know I can't take back." He shouldn’t have done it either way he is just saying that because he knows this will be broadcasted to the entire world. He’s a coward for hitting a women. Brandon Downing

  2. I feel that Rice deserves every ounce of punishment that he is receiving for his actions. Domestic violence is not something to beat around the bush with nor is it something that should be covered up or to be comfortable with. One thing that really frustrated me from the New York Times article was a response from one of Rice's fellow people. “He’s a person of character. The thing that’s really important is to be able to support the person without condoning the action. He makes a mistake. There’s no justifying what happened. When you drink too much in public, those kind of things happen." Alcohol consumption should NOT be able to be used as an excuse for domestic violence. Yes, we all make mistakes. But this was definitely not the situation to pull the intoxication card for. And who knows, maybe this wasn't even Rice's first time.

  3. The whole thing about Ray Rice hitting and knocking out his wife is bad but I don’t think he deserved two punishments for it because even though hurting your wife is horrible, there were much worst NFl football stars that did much worst and still play like Michael Vick who killed so many dogs in fights but he still got to play. I think for hurting the wife and even though she didn’t press charges I still think the police should have done something about it because it was caught on camera. Also what have to the Amendment about not being charged twice for the same crime I think what he did was bad but I should have just sent him to jail for a few weeks instead of indefinite suspension.

  4. My take on this article is that ray rice had no right to knock out his wife.even through his wife hit him.He should know his own strength and what he could do to people. Ray Rice is now dropped from the team which isn't a bad consequence because look at how his wife got treated how she must of felt.... Mary t

  5. I feel that if the video was not released, we would not even be talking about the incident with Ray Rice . “In July, the NFL had suspended Rice for two games for domestic violence.” This was before the TMZ footage came out on monday and people knew about the incident.I think that he should have to go to a domestic violence class, and if his wife was scared of him after all this attention she would have pressed charges against him and would not want to be seen with him at all.I think that domestic violence happens every day and that it would be hard to get all of the people that abuse their wives and girlfriends because most of them do not come forward.

  6. I believe that the NFL did the right thing on suspending Ray Rice and also the Baltimore Ravens on getting rid of his contract for the team. The coach did the right thing in my opinion “Ravens coach John Harbaugh was expected to talk Monday night after practice about Rice being cut from the team”. Rice should be lucky that he didn't seriously injure her she could of hit her head on the pole and suffer serious head injury. I Also think that he should be under watch so he doesn't abuse his wife, family members or other people. The actions that the NFL took on him were the right actions one stupid little thing he did can screw up his whole future but he should've thought of that before hitting his own wife.

  7. I think that he should be doing jail time, but I don't think that he should have been indefinitely suspended. I think this because it is unconstitutional, the 5th amendment states that the no person can be charged for the same crime twice. This is exactly what the NFL is doing to Ray Rice. the article state that he was benched for two games by the NFL and to avoid jail time he was bench for an additional six game. What I think the NFL was try to make it so then they don't get bad publicity.

  8. I think that it is good that he got charged. He should be a role model to people and kids everywhere . His actions reflect on kids I know this because when I was younger I used to look up to football players and I would try and act like them so if someone beats there kid it doesn't show that he is a leader or that he is mature or smart enough to be in the nfl

  9. I think that the punishment Ray Rice got was too harsh. It should have stayed as the 2 game suspension it started as. The people who were saying it "wasn't harsh enough" are wrong. His fiancee, who was the one who got hit, still married him. If she can forgive him, I think the NFL can too.'

The Article mainly talks about how Rice the football player punched his fiancee (was wife) a few months ago and was now only punished. His punishment was very small (two game suspension) but a video was released awhile ago which made him effectively banned from playing pro football again. This brought up mainly of topics about are punishments big enough for illegal acts for pro sport players specifically football the american pass time. Though players do get punishments but get consistently get away from banning or severely suspended. I personally agree that players should be more punished. I wouldn’t say banning at first but have it like a season for this kind of stuff and permanent banning for the second time without exception for serious crimes. I hate football as it is and this stuff really rubs me the wrong way.
