Abuse of any kind is a horrible thing that happens all over the world as well as our society. I am more irritated with the fact that Ray was able to escape prosecution because of his status as a member of the NFL. "The next month a grand jury indicted Rice on a charge of third-degree aggravated assault." So he may have been convicted but not for his actual abuse. He was suspended indefinitely from the NFL but was not placed in prison for his crime. There is no reason that Rice could not be tried again with this new evidence available. As unfortunate as it is our judicial system can be very ineffectual when it comes to cases like this and i sincerely hope in the future that improvements will be made.

  2. Everyone saw the video of Ray Rice hitting his girlfriend now but the fact that the NFL tried to hide it from the public is worse than Ray Rice. He should have been punished for his actions a long time ago. Also all the other football players being talked about on the news is ridiculous and needs to stop.

  3. Although I believe people should be forgiven for their mistakes, I don't think abuse, especially of this level, should be given a slap on the wrist and then forgotten about as happened in Ray Rice's case. Coach Harbaugh excused Rice's actions, saying, “When you drink too much in public, those kind of things happen." Perhaps he said this because he didn't want to lose Rice as a player, or maybe even because he felt pity for Rice. Either way I agree that he treated it too lightly. Whatever loop hole allowed Rice to avoid prosecution needs to be patched up, and Ride must face the real consequences for abusing his spouse. It has nothing to do with his character. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions.

  4. I think that Ray Rice should be forgive for his mistake. He shouldn't be abused for what he did. Ray had apologized to his coaches and his fans and said "everyone who was affected by this situation that me and my wife were in." After that I think that they should accept his apology and his mistake.

  5. Its upsetting when you hear about a case involving abuse. In the Ray Rice case, Rice knocked out his wife in an elevator. Earlier on the NFL tried to keep this case small. At first Rice was only given a two game suspension and was not criminally prosecuted. Later on video footage of what actually happened in the elevator was released and the NFL then suspended Rice indefinitely but he was still not criminally prosecuted. I believe that Rice got off too easy for what he did. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said,"When you drink too much in public, those kind of things happen." I disagree with this statement. Drinking too much in public doesn't cause you to knock your wife out cold. I believe Rice got off too easy and something should be done so that people can't get away with abuse crimes so easily.

  6. Domestic violence is a serious issue all over the world. And the NFL's choice to allow Rice to play is outrageous. The NFL takes the issues too lightly, a 2 game suspension is the original punishment he received from the NFL because it was his first offense. And only when the elevator film was seen were more serious punishments given to Rice. The saddest part is that his wife was apologetic for HIS actions AGAINST her. She said “I do deeply regret the role I played in the incident that night.” It was a line that caused many to cringe. It is hard to feel anything but sadness for her.” I think the NFL shouldn’t even allow a first time offense to be a warning and a 2 game suspension but some other, swifter, and harsher action to be taken on the players.

  7. It’s hard to hear about a man hitting/knocking out his a woman especially a man that should have been a role model to others. Ray rice has abused his wife and now there is proof of him doing it. Early in the month there was a video of Rice hitting and completely knocking out his wife in an elevator. How the NFL treated this was completely wrong. The NFL had heard about this just not seeing proof so they suspended Rice for 2 games. After seeing the video rice was released for his team but not released for the NFL. Yes rice did apologize too all it effected but just because he said sorry that doesn’t change what he did. Right when the NFL so the video they should have kicked rice off not giving it time to think about. “The 27-year-old Rice was charged with felony aggravated assault in the case. But in May he was accepted into a pretrial intervention program that allowed him to avoid jail time. It also could have led to the charge being erased from his record”. I do believe rice should have gotten the punishment any non-famous person would have gotten for abuse, they let his off easy and in some way by letting him off easy they are showing/saying abuse is okay in some way. I don’t this Rice got the punishment he deserved.
