  1. September 11th is day like no other, which will never be forgotten. Many of our loved ones lives were lost, many citizens were injured, many were emotionaly scarred. I think we all should be aware and warned that this is a possible situation to occure again. No one can really predict it will happen, but it's good to be prepared for whatever may come our way. We'll get through this as a country, but we'll never just put this day to the back of our minds tryinhg to forget it, because we all know it happened, and we can't change our past's.

  2. The article I found related to remembering 9/11 was actually an interactive timeline. It led me through almost minute by minute of what happened that day. I thought it was very informative and find it’s interesting that 9/11 is remembered as the terrorist attack on the twin towers and doesn’t really include the plane that hit the pentagon.

  3. I read an article called "Beyond 9/11: Portraits of Resilience" from Time Magizine. The article tells about certain people that survived, helped, and made a big difference during that time. One of the people mentioned is George W. Bush. He speaks about how he went to New York on 9/11 trying to encourage everyone to stay strong and not be too worried. Another thing he said he remembered was the scared looks on people's faces and people risking their lives, going in the building to find and save trapped loved ones. Bush also stated that he knew that whoever had caused this problem would serve american justice and instantly be killed. "I was a new President and I was learning that the nature of the job is such that you can inspire people," said George. In my opionion, he was the one that had the most impact on the United States, so it was up to him to make things better.

  4. There are rumors of 9/11 being planned by the United States government and former president George w Bush so they can profit from it. There are a few facts to back up the theory. First one is before the attack, stock and insurance was highly raised on the airline that was high jacked. Secondly in the event of an airplane high jacking NORAD, is prepared to send out fighter jets which can shoot down an airplane but they didn’t. Lastly many people argue that the towers were in fact blown down with explosives placed in selected locations. Josh Celone per 7

  5. In this article after 9/11 the security of airports and subways significantly grew. The military stepped in everywhere to try and make sure nothing would happen. I think that for the first couple of years this was necessary. After a while with no terrorist attacks I think they should loosen up on security. Plus it being 10 years and after killing Osama I think that we have less chance of any terrorist retaliation no that the leader who had all the plans is dead. Also with news announcements that the government has showed is making people panic over a lot of nothing. Tyler period 7

  6. This article from the NY Times talks about the result of September 11, 2001. It states that from this day there were two outcomes: civil liberties and national security. It describes all the techniques used to ensure the safety of New York citizens as well as other United States citizens, including body and bag checks at airports. From this the article goes on to describe the killing of Osama Bin Laden and quotes that it is only the "beginning of the end". Based on the information given and the quotes used in this article i would say that i agree with what is presented. Both of these ideas were brought out from 9/11 and are still present today, nearly ten years later. The killing of Bin Laden may have been a step in the right direction but it definately not the end of the war or terrorist attacks against the United States. The effort to take down the U.S by members of the Al Queda and other terrorist groups will continue and the United States government will continue to enforce these strategies to prevent these acts the best they can.

  7. In the post 9/11 world is it possible that we have lost our core values in attempts to secure ourselves from threats? Some people think so while others think it’s all necessary. Some people say we need to make Islam itself our enemy while others feel it’s going too far when military and police go on covert missions in to mosques or give military trials to suspected terrorists. Are we in a good place in which while we are being protected so are our civil rights?

I myself feel that though our rights may very well be stepped on in the future as long as there are those who know what our rights are and what they always have been, then there are people who will be willing fight to bring us, as a country, to a balance in which we and our civil rights are both equally protected.

  8. The article I read in “The New York Times” based off of September 11th made me realize what trauma these people went through. The streets of New York just in deep sorrow from hearing the planes crash or a person jumping out of the building is terrifying. “Everyone was afraid, everyone was touched. For a long time even simple things, like the beautiful fall sky, could trigger the chill of recalling the fear. “Having to worry about where you take your next step isn’t the way you should be living. The terror of seeing the towers collapse and or seeing people you know or complete strangers give their life away because of these terrorists isn’t right. –Brya Excovar per 7

  9. I read an article titled “The Falling Man” from the Esquire. Photographer took a picture of a man that had jumped out of the south tower. In this picture he is in midair. During the time the picture was released it had much controversy about it being ethical. It drought more horror to what was already a bad time. I read the subtopic that explains the picture. It talked about how unlike other photos of people who jumped this man was very relaxed. He looks like he is flying not like he had jumped. While other people looked like they were scared and confused with clothing and shoes coming off. This article made me think about what he must have been seeing and going through that jumping off was a better way to go. Freedom came to mind he didn’t get the freedom to live but to him he got the freedom to die the way he wanted to.

  10. Airport Security In The Post 9/11 World
The article I read was about the way the airports have change since 9/11.airports have changed since 9/11 because they don’t want anyone to high jack the plan and crash it and try to kill a lot of people. It is a lot longer but it’s all worth it. My reaction to this is that it’s a good thing because it helps make everyone safer and feel a lot safer.

  11. I read the article “Where was god on 9/11” and it was a good article that did seem very good at first because he was sad that America has to win medals at the Olympics’ every year , but at the same time there are country’s with a lot of people when they don’t even have one. After that he starts to talk about 9/11 and he says that he takes it back.

  12. The arctic that i read on 9/11 was about how all of the security procedures have changed over the last 10 years to become more efficient. It was telling all about how even before you get on the plane, you must undergo more intense security check in. Also, how you are no longer to bring any liquid over a certain about because they think that it may contain something else inside. All of the precautions that they are taking are to help us be safer and to proven another terrorist attack such as 9/11

  13. my article was about the theory that america could of planned 9/11. there is gossip that george bush gained greatly from 9/11. Also the insurance of the high jacked planed was greatly increased. furthermore, theres alot of contraversy over wether or not there was explosives in the building as well.

  14. 9/11 was a day that no one will ever forget , and has become a part of american history for people in the future to learn about. America was under attack by al queada terrorists and they had attacked the world trade center , the pentagon and attempted to hit the white house , which is an act of war to most people like me. To me , leaving this un answered would show a sign of weakness which is why our decision to react and go to war was pretty much the right decision to stay strong.

  15. The article that I read had to do with the 9/11 firemen survivors. The firefighters Remembered the hours after September 11th when they came together as one to answer the attack against our homeland. They drew strength when our firefighters ran upstairs and risked their lives so that others might live; when rescuers rushed into smoke and fire at the Pentagon; when the men and women of Flight 93 sacrificed themselves to save our nation’s Capital; when flags were hanging from front porches all across America, and strangers became friends. Most said was the worst day we have ever seen, but it brought out the best in all of us. Firefighters were essential to the safety and security of our local communities. I believe that we owe it to these men and women to provide them with better training and equipment so they can do their jobs more effectively and safely.
