In the first section of the book we get to know a lot of the main characters. We get to know Lebron James himself and all of his friends that played basketball with him like, Little Dru and Sian Cotton. We also get to learn about the struggles they went through in there early life. Like how Lebron had to live with his mother who struggled to take care of him, so he ended up moving in with a family called the Walkers. We also get to know about there AAU team as kids called the shooting stars and how in the national tournament they came in 7th place. “Willie McGee” one of Lebron's good friends who as a child got taken care of by his fourteen year old sister however he ended up moving in with his brother.
Skepticism: “So after my moms initial skepticism...”(27) incredulity: doubt about the truth of something
Scrimped: “Coach Dru's mom scrimped and saved and made sure that he got whatever he needed...”(24) subsist on a meager allowance; "scratch and scrimp"
“I wasn’t there at the birth, of course, but I got know Little Dru, because that's what everybody called him, I am pretty sure he came out kicking and screaming.”(19)
I think this quote is important because it shows how much Lebron James knows his best friend Little Dru.
“The Walkers were disciplined, and they plunged me right into that discipline.”(15)
I think that this is a good quote because without the help from the Walkers Lebron James may still be on the streets today.
I wonder how Illya and Willie will make out living together?
In part two of the reading Sian, Lebron, Little Dru, and Willie McGee are all thinking about what high school they want to attend. Of course the Fab Four wants to go to high school together so they can keep playing basketball. Buchtel High school wants the four of them to come and play basketball for them. They are one of the top basketball schools around, however if they were to go there the kids knew that only Lebron would have a chance of playing varsity there freshmen year. So instead they went to a high school called St. Vincent. However it was not easy for them because St. Vincent was a way different world for the four young kids. Denigrate: minimize: cause to seem less serious; play down; "Don't belittle his influence" Lackadaisical: dreamy: lacking spirit or liveliness; "a lackadaisical attempt"; "a languid mood"; "a languid wave of the hand"; "a hot languorous afternoon" “As early as the middle of eighth grade, we had already begun to consider the idea of going to the same high school so we could still play basketball together.”(57) “We truly were invincible. Nobody could beat us.”(123) I think that these quotes are important because it shows that they achieved their goal of being a dominate high school basketball team. Will they stick together through college?

I wonder what would have happened to Lebron if he never went with the Walkers?
