  1. I'd first like to say that seeing the actual image of the chocolate covered strawberries, the one that dominated the front page and yet I couldn't make it out, was nice to see. We read this article and discussed it in class, mostly about the use of rhetorical devices that the author conveyed in this article. I was actually surprised as what I thought about the article- that it was sensible, well put together, and that the author did sufficient research on it- completely went against what other people thought. I remember some of my classmates completely hating the article as they said that the author used too big words and way too many anecdotes to make her point. Alyssa even mentioned that she used really long sentences that set the reader's mind, including my own, off course. In the text it says, "Both seem likely to have at least some success; a Stanford University study earlier this year found that Starbucks customers in New York City who routinely bought highly fattening foods had lowered their typical calorie consumption by 26 percent after local labeling requirements went into effect in 2008, and a survey that was released in May found 25 percent of people saying that being confronted with the long-term cost of making only minimum credit-card payments had inspired them to pay down their debt more quickly." Yes, that is all one sentence. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and it was interesting to hear theirs- even though I still stick to my own that the author did a fantastic job and her research was beyond average- and I will keep their point of view in mind. This isn't an article for everyone, it seems.
