  1. John Green's writing style is very laid back. It seems as if he writes the way he thinks. Most novels have a writing style that is very uptight and eloquent. John Green writes as if he is talking to the reader, or his character is talking to the reader, instead of making it feel like they just wrote it down. For example, on page 32, a quote i found that shows this was, "Now, I'm not sure what you're supposed to say to the checkout woman..." (P.32) As you can see the way he starts this sentence is as if he is casually talking to the reader. His character is also childish, which i think comes from Green's personality. For example a quote i found to represent this was, "I went home. i ate two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as an early dinner, I watched poker on TV..." (P.23)

  2. John Green has a very unique writing style that is very appealing to teens. I've read most of his books and the style is consistent throughout out. In most of his books, it is about how kids make mistakes and do wrongs but it's part of growing up. When Margo comes to Quentin's window asking him to take his moms car out, she says "Tonight, darling, we are going to right a lot of wrongs. And we are going to wrong some rights. The first shall be last; the last shall be first; the meek shall do some earth-inheriting. But before we can radically reshape the world, we need to shop.” and "“Remember that time in the minivan, twenty minutes ago, when we didn't die?”. This shows John Green's writing style because Margo is telling Q that they will make a lot of mistakes tonight and do a lot of wrongs. I've found that John Green also puts a moral or lesson in every story he puts the character through. It's always a powerful meaning that you can really understand or relate too.

John Green's writing style is very interesting. Throughout these pages the story still has my attention. Other novels are more sophisticated than "Paper Towns". On page 32 it says, "Yeah I'm a big believer in random capitalization. The rules of capitalization are so unfair to words in the middle." This quote is a perfect example of how many teenagers capitalize words. This books writing style is very close to how most teenagers write. Hence how it grabs the attention of the readers.

  4. John Green has very different writing style which i find pretty interesting. I feel as if he writes very casually while most other authors write like robots. Everything is usually so up tight and perfect while John Greens writing is smooth and calm. Its almost as if hes actually talking to you. On page 32 it says, "Now, I'm not sure what you're supposed to say to the checkout woman...". He begins the sentence as if hes speaking to you.

  5. John Greene uses humor to develop his characters. His writing is fluent and affable with a sense of personification. The characters are developed with high levels of confidence which defines them. The main character Q says, "I could only use the car on the weekends. Well, weekends and the middle of the goddamn night." The characters senses of humor and confidence allows his audience to connect quite easily when reading. Overall, John Green is an author who connects with a younger audience and is very good at it. Although he is strange in person, on paper he is a genius.

  6. John Green's writing style is very teen-friendly. Paper Towns is written in language that does not contain difficult vocabulary and is easy to understand. The humorous way that he writes makes it easy to continue reading without becoming bored. The way by which Green shows character development is quite interesting to me in that the characters seem to represent people I've met in real life. On page 36, he writes, "The breakup had happened months ago, but I didn't blame Margo for failing to pay attention to the world of lower-caste romance." This reminds me of the way many people must feel in high school while searching for friendships or relationships. On page 44 Green writes, "While you calm down, I'm going to paint my nails...You just take your time." This also reminds me of people in Branford High School. John Green's writing style is interesting because it is relatable.

  7. In my opinion John Green writes in a very unique way. I believe that Green rights with a lot of humor. He then uses this humor to introduce us to the characters and develops them overtime. In the book it says "Dad to answer that question it would take hours of backstory..."(27) This quote was said by Margo when she was answering why she was wearing black-face paint during the night while talking to Q. In my opinion this was a humorous way of saying it would take a lot of time to tell the whole story. In my opinion without Green's humor it would talk a while before we are fully introduced to the characters.

  8. John Green's writing has sarcasm and attitude when it come to the way he either thinks or the way he talks to his friends. And using attitude and that type of writing, (being very sarcastic towards others), appeals to teens because that is a good representation on how some teens speak to each other. And in the story it shows the mysterious side to teens and it shows that not all teens are good kids. "I swear to go that you will not be asked to commit a felony." (Margo Page 26)

  9. John Green has a very different and unique writing style. i like his style of writing for a couple of reasons. one being that he is a very laid back guy with his style of writing. many other authors are laid back also but, there are also some writers that write too precisely. they are too cut throat. an example quote i thought showed his unique laid back writing style was “We bring the fucking rain Q, not the scattered showers.” this just goes to show that he isn't afraid to be himself and say what he feels needs to be in the story to make it better or more interesting.

  10. John Green has a very humorous writing style. Most of the time it is jokingly written but sometimes the text is sarcasm. His writing style is different in the sense that he writes to the teenager population. The book Paper towns is very easy to read because it is based on a group of teenagers. This is easy to understand because we cooperate and communicate in the same way as the characters in the book do.In the book it says “Do you guys remember that one time, in the minivan, twenty minutes ago, that we somehow didn't die?”. This relates to something that someone would say in the high school population, maybe just because they almost got into a crash or because they were driving so fast. Another quotes i found is “I spy with my little eye a great story.” I feel like this is something a teenager in high school would say just because there are so many great experiences in high school.

  11. I really like John Green's writing style. Having read several of his books, I truly enjoy his writing style. He has a humorous tone, but simultaneously serious as well. It very interesting, and I believe many people enjoy it for that reason. Also, it's very relatable. When he writes these stories about teenagers, it seems as if a teenager tells the story. It's about as real as it gets. He creates these characters that we all connect to. For example, one of the things they were talking about was prom. Quentin and his friends were trying to find dates to it, but they didn't really care. On page 18 he says "...even though I didn't give a shit about prom. Such was life that morning:nothing really mattered much..." This is like every teenager and i think that's why so many teens enjoy his style.

  12. John Green’s writing style is funny, relaxed, joking, and personal. “The thing about Margo Roth Spiegelman is that all I could ever really do was let her talk, and then when she stopped talking encourage her to go on”(Paper Towns, 31). Green’s characters are very original and describe in detail the life of an average teenager. The thoughts of his main character, Quentin Jacobsen, focus on small unique details that often scatter the past and present, mimicking how real people think. “I refolded it and slid it back over the table. I remember playing paper football on these tables.”(Paper Towns, 19) His style connects his readers to his story. Through the funny things that happen, to the strange thoughts of Q, and the social structure of a school, John Green is able to create a style of writing that people can connect to by recreating the details in the life of the average teenager.

John Greens book is very enjoyable because he really gets to the teenage mind with his very funny jokes. Margo likes to emphasize on her words by randomly capitalizing them in her writing. Quentin is a smart student but he still hasn't gotten up the courage to tell Margo how he really feels. I feel that the story may turn out to become a big mystery because of a quote on page 8 last paragraph. "Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one." The book also makes a plot development statement on page 25 1st paragraph. "Her eyes were all I could see at first, but as my vision adjusted, I realized she was wearing black face paint and a black hoodie." Clearly all these things Margo needs Quentin to do for her are also leading up to the grand scheme of the story which I believe involves a great mystery. I hope as I continue to read the story's plot will develop even more and more.

John Green's writing style is interesting and exciting. He pushes the envelope when it comes to what he says. He writes in a relateable way and doesnt sugar coat it. He speaks his mind and speaks truthfully. Connecting with the audience he is writing to using what they experience which is the experiences you go through while growing up. As you begining reading you dont get to be bored because before long there is something said you couldnt believe is happening. Its unlike any other book and its author is completely different than all the others. Also its something that schools try to sheild students from regarding the way it is writing. Using language and topics that are usually not discussed in literature. Some interesting sentences that were written were,"Tonight, darling, we are going to right a lot of wrongs." and "That's always seemed so ridiculous to me, that people would want to be around someone because they're pretty. It's like picking your breakfast cereals based on color instead of taste." John Green writes in a way that keeps the reader engaged and wanting to keep reading.

John Greene has a different tone in how he wrote the book Paper Towns. Unlike other authors, he expresses a different view on characters lifestyle and how they feel. I don’t believe he cares what he writes about. He writes what he feels and how it should be said. “We bring the fucking rain Q, not the scattered showers.’ Even though most authors don’t swear in their books, novels, or in general, I believe it sometimes gets a point across. It shows another view on a story. The tone in the book is sort of laid back and interesting. It makes the reader relaxed and entertained.

  16. John Greene's style of writing is very unique and interesting as well. He tends to write about exactly how he is feeling and had no problem with sharing how he really feels about anything. He tends to swear often in his writings, but I feel as if it helps get the point across even though it is in a more aggressive manner. Another thing is, it seems to me that in his writings, he tends to write something a teenager would say or do so it could let us relate to the story more and have a better time understanding it. John Greene's tone in this story makes the reading more interesting.

  17. John Green's writing style is very unique and it relates to teenagers our age, and he is very interesting. I don't even believe that John Green has a care in the world of what other people think about him, which is a great thing, and maybe he's showing teenagers you should live on the edge, like Margo, and Q do. Another thing that i noticed about him, is he always writes something a typical teenager our age would say or do, and so we can really relate to his writing, and want to keep reading his story, to find out what is going to happen next. John Green's tone and voice in this story to me, makes reading more fun, and interesting to do. John Green is most deff. my favorite author, and i cannot wait to see how this story ends.

  19. John Green's writing style is very unique and I don't think it is like any other author's book I have read. Once I read the first chapter, it really had me hooked and I didn't want to stop reading. I feel like his writing style is very laid back. Whenever I read, I usually think about whatever's not what I'm reading but this book is different. His writing style makes me want to read.

  20. I really like John Green's writing style because it's unique and teenagers can relate to it. He does use swears and talks about inappropriate things sometimes but he makes it humorous and teens can connect to it. He isn't afraid to write anything and always speaks his mind and that's good for an author to have. I like Paper Towns and I liked the other books I read by John Green such as The Fault In Our Stars.
