  1. the ending of part 1 put a spin on the entire book. when montag arrives to his house on the fire truck i wanted to contine reading. my question is why was the fire truck sent to montags house. is it going to be for mille becouse she overdosed again or is it becouse she burnt the books that were at the house. my expectations for the next section are for montag and mile to get a divorce becouse they are so unhappy.

  2. skyler p.8

i thought that it was odd that Mrs. Phelps wanted Montag to read one of the poems from his book.

i also thought that it was also pretty interesting when Montage yelled at Mrs.Bowles and how he was right about it, mrs bowles has a one sided mind , i also think that mrs. bowels set the alarm off on montag because of his poem reading.

  3. I think that Montag was stupid to think that the other fireman wouldn't find out that he had books in his house. I wonder if Mildred told the fireman about him and the books.

  4. Well, to me i thought it was weird that Montage would read in front of his wifes friends. If he wanted to keep his secret safe why would he expose it to Mrs. Bowles, Mrs Phelps, Millie? I believe that Mrs. Phelps or Mrs. Bowles set off the alarm.

  5. another reason i think mrs bowels set off the alarm is because of the argument that she and montag had before she left "Go home and think of your first husband divorced... Go home, go home" on page 101

  7. I already knew about the ending of part two from online. It also hinted that this was going to happen because Beatty knew about the books and he gave him 24hrs to burn the books or they would burn them. It seemed as if a day had passed so he should have expected they would be going to his house especially since Beatty said it was a "special case".

  8. i agree with the anonymous one except at the next part of the book i think they are going to get into a fight but they arent going to have a divorse. The fire truck is probably going to be for millie because she had an over dose.

  10. In the beginning of the book Montag was glad that he burned books for a living. As he becomes more and more interested with books, he tries to preserve them and find others who want to do the same thing. I think Montag is loosing his mind because of the books. Reading books is prohibited and he is willing to read them in front of Mildred (who is very narrow and dull) and her friends (who seem to share the same characteristics of Millie).
Ms. Phelps come over Montag's and Millie's house to watch the television. Ms. Phelps stated that she doesn't want kids. I think it's funny how Millie and Montag don't have a child. They must of never really loved each other and they same to be in the same situation.
To me it's obivous that Mildred's friends ratted out Montag. Montag is a fool and he doesn't think out his actions. He is very similiar to Mille, (they are both stupid) only that he cares about books.

  11. I liked when anonymous said that the ending put a spin on the whole book. I don't think that the firetruck would be for millie because she overdosed again, because why would they send a firetruck, but I do think that someone set off the alarm on Montag. After reading ryan's quote, I am beginning to think that it was one of the three women who set off the alarm. After reading this part, I am wondering what is going to happen to Montag? Will the fireman burn him along with the books? What will happen with him and Millie?

  12. I also agree with lerski and i also thought that Mrs. Bowles set off the alarm on Montag

  13. I think a divorce would be great for the unhappy couple. It would help Montage to be more pleasant in his dull mariage. Also it would be easier for montage and Faber to continue with there plan.

  14. I think that ryry is right in saying that a divorce whould be perfect for Montag and Millie. Then He wouldn't have to worry about Millie and het TV's and her pills, and he could just put his plan into action with no other distractions.

  15. -on pg 96, Mrs. Phelps was talking about how badly she treats her children and why they are useless and anoyying. She says that she would never have any kids and noone in the right mind would either.I agree because i think that children are usless and anoying too and I would never have kids.
-on pg 97, all the ladies were talking about how they base who the vote for on what they look like. This is stupid because there could be a guy with 17 arms and 3 eyes who would be a good president. And they also said that their names helped them decide who to vote for.
-also on pg 100, Montag read his poem to all of his wife’s friends. I don’t know why he does this because he was trying to keep it a secret that he has books and he was just giving it away here.
    - on pg 100, Mrs. Phelps was crying.

  17. i agree with michael
in the begining of the book montag took his job very seriously and he never even thought about reading a book. also i dont think he should read the books infront of millie or her friends. if montag really cared about the books and nobody finding out he had them then he wouldnt read them infron of anybody.

  18. i thought that beatty put a major guilt trip and tried to make Montag feel uncomfortable about the books he took. The end of part 1 also was interesting when they showed up in front of his house. That surprised me.

Also when Montag started flipping out about books and when him and Mildred got into a little fight about it. Ithink their relationship won't last and they should get a divorce.

  19. I agree with Lerski in that it was odd for Mrs. Phelps to request a poem from Montag's book. In F451's self-centered society, we hear very few mentions of common courtesy or kindness, so it struck me as strange that Mrs. Phelps would attempt to placate Montag or even know where to begin. The "conflict-resolution" tactics in this society seem to consist mainly of avoidance and denial.

I think it was, perhaps, brave of her to agree to hearing a poem. She begins to cry violently, apparently because of the "ignorant armies clashing by night" mentioned in the poem. Is she crying because of pure confusion and terror, or has he reached some other part of her, some deeper part that has not been scoured clean by television? Perhaps she really does love her husband, or at least like him, and the poem has penetrated her silly plastic mind. Any thoughts?
